When Olga2194 goes to the University in Lugansk every day, she never forgets to acknowledge her joi de vivre. "I can be jealous, romantic, ready-witted, sociable, benevolent, brave and optimistic. But at any moment I'm very optimistic! And I'm trying to see something good in any problem." The most imporant quality in a man for Olga2194 is "the soul... he must be very honest and [open with] me." [More]

Margarita: I would like to tell you about a miracle that happened in my life. I met an amazing Christian man; the man I have been looking for for so long. I thank God for the opportunity, for His help and His blessings. If God is in your heart, you will not be in need of anything and you will always be protected. Every person should thank God for everything he or she has in life. I am also thankful to the people at my agency. Their care, consideration and professional attitude have been a great support in my search.   Bobby: I would like to thank all those involved for the assitance of my meeting Margarita. I felt in my heart that Margarita was a special woman through our letters to each other. For me to come to Ukraine alone took some time and I had some reservations about coming so far to meet someone for first time but everything since my arrival has been good. Margarita was more beautiful than her pictures and just as beautiful as I hoped she would be in her inner beauty. I have grown more fond of her everyday that I have been with her and feel very comfortable when we are together. I believe we are a match with the same vision in life. Thanks to all in making this happen.

40 years ago today, Apollo 11 successfully landed the first man on the moon. This American achievement was monumental, but it would have never happend if the Russians had not fueled the race to space. Two days after the United States announced its intention to launch an artificial satellite, on July 31, 1956, the Soviet Union announced its intention to do the same. Sputnik 1 was launched on October 4, 1957, beating the United States and stunning people all over the world.   For a dozen years before the moon landing, the Russians racked up an extraordinary array of superlatives. It was the first to send a craft into orbit, with the Sputnik satellite in 1957. The first human to go into outer space was Russian Yuri Gagarin in 1961. Moscow sent the woman into space, Valentina Tereshkova in 1963; and Alexei Leonov was the first person to venture outside a spacecraft into the endless cosmos, in 1965. Russia even got to the moon first when the unmanned Luna 2 crashed in 1959. But the drama of the first human footprint on an extraterrestrial body eclipsed everything the Soviets had worked so hard to achieve.   The Soviet space program pioneered many aspects of space exploration. Here's a list from Wikipedia:   1957: First intercontinental ballistic missile, the R-7 Semyorka 1957: First satellite, Sputnik 1 1957: First animal to enter Earth orbit, the dog Laika (pictured) on Sputnik 2 1959: First firing of a rocket in Earth orbit, first man-made object to escape Earth's orbit, Luna 1 1959: First data communications, or telemetry, to and from outer space, Luna 1. 1959: First man-made object to pass near the Moon, first man-made object in Solar orbit, Luna 1 1959: First probe to impact the Moon, Luna 2 1959: First images of the moon's far side, Luna 3 1960: First animals to safely return from Earth orbit, the dogs Belka and Strelka on Sputnik 5. 1960: First probe launched to Mars, Marsnik 1 1961: First probe launched to Venus, Venera 1 1961: First person in space (International definition) and in Earth orbit, Yuri Gagarin on Vostok 1, Vostok programme 1961: First person to spend over a day in space Gherman Titov, Vostok 2 (also first person to sleep in space). 1962: First dual manned spaceflight and approach, Vostok 3 and Vostok 4 1963: First woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova, Vostok 6 1964: First multi-man crew (3), Voskhod 1 1965: First EVA, by Aleksei Leonov, Voskhod 2 1965: First probe to hit another planet (Venus), Venera 3 1966: First probe to make a soft landing on and transmit from the surface of the moon, Luna 9 1966: First probe in lunar orbit, Luna 10 1967: First unmanned rendezvous and docking, Cosmos 186/Cosmos 188. (Until 2006, this had remained the only major space achievement that the US had not duplicated.) 1969: First docking between two manned craft in Earth orbit and exchange of crews, Soyuz 4 and Soyuz 5 1970: First samples automatically returned to Earth from another body, Luna 16 1970: First robotic space rover, Lunokhod 1 1970: First data received from the surface of another planet (Venus), Venera 7 1971: First space station, Salyut 1 1971: First probe to orbit another planet (Mars), first probe to reach surface of Mars, Mars 2 1975: First probe to orbit Venus, first photos from surface of Venus, Venera 9 1984: First woman to walk in space, Svetlana Savitskaya (Salyut 7 space station) 1986: First crew to visit two separate space stations (Mir and Salyut 7) 1986: First permanently manned space station, Mir, which orbited the Earth from 1986 until 2001 1987: First crew to spend over one year in space, Vladimir Titov and Musa Manarov on board of TM-4 - Mir   Sources: LA Times, Wikipedia

Restaurant Dejavyu We would like to introduce you with a very nice place where you can relax, try Ukrainian food and spend wonderful time with your friends. Our suggestion is Restaurant Dejavyu in Nikolaev. Let us start by staying that from the moment you will walk through the door you know you are in for a treat. Coming from America you will be pleasantly surprised to have an attendant take your coat while the more than attentive hostess will seat you. You will be more than amazed at the collection of "Cold War Era" memorabilia. It is so interesting to be able to see what folks on the other side of "The Fence" had to think about the west.   Seating is very comfortable and promotes wonderful conversation. Waitresses bring large wonderful menus full of Ukrainian and other Eastern European delights.   One cannot visit without sampling the Borsh with Pampushki. Absolutely amazing!!! Another delicious treat are the dumplings. They are stuffed with potatoes or onion or beef and dressed with sour cream. Appetizers, salads, and drink selections are also plentiful. We must recommend any and all of the juices; these are something without comparison in the US. While here be sure to sample as many different kinds of vodkas as you can handle J there will be plenty of opportunity for sampling during your evening and your visit. We must insist that you try the honey pepper flavor, it may sound scary but it is well worth it.   The restaurant Dejavyu is located in City Center complex , so there are a lot of other attractions close by to keep you busy and entertained. A casino and billiard hall make for an exciting after dinner entertainment. There is also a fine cigar shop located in the complex, which by the way can sell you Cuban cigars. A large supermarket with many choices of groceries and supplies can keep you satisfied for anything that you may need to purchase. A large Mall is also located here, you can even buy a nice pair of Levis blue jeans here J High end Electronics and sports apparel is also widely available here.   We hope this helps in making a positive impression on your research when you are thinking about visiting Nikolaev, a truly wonderful and inviting city

Your profile pictures are the first impression that our ladies have of you. If you don't take the time to submit good photos, or at least complementary ones, you risk coming across as a person that is not really intersted in a relationship. We have put together 5 tips to help you upload the right photos to your HotRussianBrides.com profile:   Guy Tip #1: Focus on You – When uploading photos to your profile, make sure that you only upload photos of you and not of you and your friends, especially if your friends are female. Think of this as your one shot to make a good first impression and put the time into it. Groom yourself. Brush your hair. Wear a clean shirt. You are trying to ATTRACT ladies, not repel them. Also, if you want people to get to know you better, upload photos of your house, your pets and your hobbies. But be honest.   Guy Tip #2: Be Casual – Post a casual photo, just like as if you are ready to go on a first date or family gathering. Avoid the corporate mug shots where you might look too… corporate.   Guy Tip #3: No Shameful Photos – Even if you have a dynamite body, no one wants to meet your privates before they meet you. Don’t upload nude pictures of yourself. Also, don’t post photos of you passed out in a bathroom or wasted in someone’s backyard.   Guy Tip #4: Wear Complementary Colors – Wear colors that complement your skin tone. Forget what’s in style and wear what makes you look good.  If you are not sure, ask co-workers or friends to point you in the right direction.   Guy Tip #5: Think Like a Photographer – You don’t have to a professional photographer, but since this how people will “meet you” take the time to ensure that the lighting is good, that your eyes aren’t red from the flash and that you are in focus. Also, the background in a photo makes a difference. Try different backgrounds and make sure nothing is taking attention away from you or that random objects are not sticking out of your head.

Bravo’s newest show Miami Social, tells the story of seven friends who make up one of the “social circles” of the titular city. Comprised of fashion designers, photographers, promoters and socialites, the seven live and work to “make this city spin”.   Miami Social also tells the story of life for Russian immigrants in one of the most Cosmopolitan cities in the country. Maria Lankina, originally from St Petersburg in Russia, moved to Miami in 2005 and became widely known as one of the most talented freelance photographers in the city. Her work has graced the covers and pages of In Focus, Miami Fashion Weekly and many other national and international magazines. In between her days of photo shoots and event planning, she looks after her 13 year old daughter, Angelika and frequents the chicest nightclubs in South Beach.   From a technical standpoint, the show is beautifully shot and illustrates the gorgeous scenery and the exciting nightlife in Miami’s South Beach area but the first episode was really more of an introduction to the cast, without much focus on Maria or Lina Fidler, the other Russian Lady on the show. Lina is the hot-tempered girlfriend of George, a high-powered mortgage banker and member of the Miami Social circle. Hopefully the next few episodes will focus more on these ladies and their experiences as Russian women in the United States.
