Upon viewing Tamplier from the road, you already know you are in for an experience like no other. The castle looms out of the distance, the torches burning outside, and the costumed attendants outside the entrance; these are but a few of the things that make Tamplier so exciting.   Walking through the front door is like walking back in time. Inside you are met by costumed attendants waiting to seat you immediately. As you make your way into the main dining hall you cannot help but stop and stare. Here you are met by not only armored knights, but also the gigantic flying dragon swooping down from the ceiling. Upstairs in the main dining hall is also a very inviting place, with large tables for large parties of friends or associates. There is even a private dining room fashioned after the Knights of the Round Table.   If you are more adventurous, then let me suggest a trip outside to see what awaits you when dining outdoors. Private bungalows are scattered about the large outdoor area for dining; probably the most romantic seating in all of Nikolaev. A large pond sits nearby with a collection of ducks to entertain. Located just a short walk away is also the private zoo on the premises, nobody will mind if you take a quick stroll to visit the Llamas, horses and donkeys while your meal is being prepared. Do not go too far though, the service here is amazing and fast, something to definitely look forward to after a hectic day of visiting the sites of the city.   A well thought out menu greets you as you sit at your table, offering so many choices. There is a large selection of hot and cold appetizers, soups and salads. There are also delicious meat and vegetable trays to enjoy alongside some pre-dinner drinks, entertaining in the true Ukrainian style.   The entrees are endless; from beef to pork; fish to chicken, and even a fine selection of game birds to choose from. As always, no Ukrainian restaurant would be complete without a vast selection of stuffed dumplings and different potato choices. Of course the wood fired grill outside produces some of the best Shish Kabob in the city, and they can be topped off with any of the vast array of sauces and toppings on the menu. The restaurant also offers one of the best selections of regional and national selections of wines; there are also some fine international choices also. And no trip to Ukraine is complete without a taste of the traditional soups Borsch or Solyanka, and Tamplier makes great versions of both.   Always remember to have a dessert, this is where Ukrainian food and in particular, Tamplier really shine. From thin pancakes with fruit jams or powdered sugar to an amazing selection of fine chocolates, you can never go wrong here.   Be sure to stop by and enjoy, you just never know when a real fight may break out amongst the knights of the Tamplier!

An easy walk down Sovetskya Street and you will find yourself outside this wonderful little restaurant "Dekanka". With ample outdoor seating or two floors of seating inside, they can meet any size party’s needs.   The downstairs is very similar to a western style pizzeria kitchen, with a couple of guys making fresh pizza as fast as they can spin dough. Upstairs is a comfortably appointed dining area with wonderful booths and chairs.   A quick look through the menu and you know that there are a great many choices for good food. Plenty of fresh salads to choose from, and even a western style salad to rival anything you have tried before. Follow this up with some of the tastiest Borsch in the city, and you’ll agree that it’s amazing!!   Entrees are delicious and the portions are gigantic. Shish-kabobs, stuffed pork loin, and crepes are just a sampling of the wonderful recipes they offer.   Enjoy a wide selection of juices and sodas, great choices if you are trying your hand at Vodka, or if you want to relive a bit of western style, enjoy a good Whiskey.   You will not be let down visiting this restaurant, sit back and enjoy the warm hospitality and speedy service that cannot be rivaled anywhere.

Exactly 220 years ago, the city of Nikolaev was established. Nikolaev was founded in 1789 by Duke Grigory Potemkin on the peninsula at the confluence of Ingul and the Southern Bug as a naval and a ship city. Modern Nikolaev is a big industrial, business, political and cultural center of South of Ukraine, with a population of over 510,000 people.   September 12, Nikolaev celebrated its 220 anniversary. In honor of the holiday in the heart of the "ship” city took a place a celebratory parade, which was attended by all who could have taken part! As always, the celebration of the city Nikolaev was bright, colorful and memorable! All day in Nikolaev was held a full program of performances and festivities. There were concert programs with the participation of local musicians, concert and entertainment programs for children and demonstrations by the dancing club “Pasadena”, visual show "Street of Living Sculptures", a gifted performance to the residents of the city from the circus "Kobzov", musical-theatre performance of "City of Nikolaev - our life!”, a gala-concert with the participation of pop stars, Fireworks and even more interesting and exciting events. Sovetskaya Street was crowded with parade participants and people who came to watch the show.   The beginning of celebration started from a small theatrical performance with a historical theme. On the stage a carriage appeared with Catherine II, Grigory Potemkin and Michael Faleev - the founders of the glorious shipyard between the Bug and Ingul rivers.   The parade was opened by the participants of the play “Nikolaev - care of young"- honors pupils of study, sportsmen, and talented young people. There were a lot of flattering words and wishes for them. Children and youth demonstrated their skills and ingenuity. Each institution had its own float, with colored balls, with original greeting banners, and with their "jokes and tricks". The Director of Nikolaev Zoo welcomed everybody riding on a pony, members of the club "Griffin" dressed in medieval costumes, with swords and shields, staging a battle demonstration.   In the final part of the parade the military equipment passed and there was a demonstration of military men. The fighters of reconnaissance-trooper Company of 79-th separate airmobile brigade showed the spectators how they could break bottles and bricks on his head.   A Large landing ship "Konstantin Olshansky" of the Navy of Ukraine on September 10th came and moored in Nikolaev, and on September 11th, citizens of Nikolaev could visit the ship on an excursion. The performance by the marines from “Konstantin Olshansky” was incredibly fun and exciting. In the evening the same day at Lenin Square there was a concert featuring well-known musical singers and bands of the Ukrainian stage, and the night sky lit up with the celebratory fireworks.
