3 Things Russian Women Think About Western Men That Just Aren’t True

Russian women aren’t the only victims of stereotypes. Here are three things Russian women think about Western men that just aren’t true.

They’re All Wealthy

Because the average Westerner earns much more than the average Russian, some ladies get the idea that men from Canada or England or America are rich. They imagine sprawling homes and sparkling pools and assume that everyone drives a luxury car. What the women don’t realize, however, is that there are a lot more expenses in the West, and that plenty of people struggle to get by.

They All Have Glamorous Lives

Because of the myth about wealthy Westerners, some ladies might assume that foreign men have glamorous, jet-setting lifestyles. This myth is also perpetuated by American movies and reality shows that foster unrealistic expectations about wealth and material objects. Believe it or not, some Russian women think that all Westerners spend thousands of dollars on a child’s birthday party or can afford a hip NYC loft on a part-time salary.

They Are Surrounded by Family

Eastern Europe, like many areas of the world, is family orientated and it’s not uncommon for several family members to live under one roof. Therefore, Russian women may assume that Western men are surrounded by parents and grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins and siblings. In reality, many ladies are surprised to learn that kids traditionally leave home at age 18, and that Westerners often live hundreds, or thousands, of miles from their immediate family.

International dating is exciting because it allows men and women to meet new people and discover new cultures. However, myths abound so don’t be surprised if a Russian lady develops a flawed perception of your life.
