Wondering which artists are hot in Ukraine? Here five of Ukraine’s most popular performers, including a few your favorite lady might enjoy. Have you heard of any of the pop stars listed below?


Ani Lorak

Ani Lorak, 34, is a recipient of the People’s Artist of Ukraine title, a prestigious honor bestowed upon the nation’s outstanding performing artists. The pop singer placed second in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest and won Artistic Award for her performance of “Shady Lady.” Ani’s hit song, “Zazhygai Serdce” is currently number one on the Ukraine Top 40 chart.



Ruslana

Ruslana, 39, is another People’s Artist of Ukraine title holder and Eurovision competitor. The striking brunette won Eurovision 2004 thanks to the hit “Wild Dances” (below) and the first artist from the former USSR countries to officially receive a platinum disc. Ruslana has so far released seven Ukrainian-language albums and three albums in English. The singer’s eighth English-language album, Euphoria, is slated for release next year. 



Svetlana Loboda

Svetlana Loboda, 30, represented Ukraine in Eurovision 2009, placing ninth in the competition with her song “Be My Valentine.” Check it out below. Loboda’s last album, Crisis Girl, dropped in 2009, while her most recent single, “Cloudy,” hit airwaves this year.


Okean Elzy

Founded in 1994, Okean Elzy is one of the most popular rock bands in Ukraine and throughout Eastern Europe. The beloved quintet has so far released eight original albums, with the last, Dolce Vita, hitting shelves in 2010. Here’s a music video of their hit “No Battle.”



Sofia Rotaru

Sofia Rotaru, 65, has been performing for over 40 years and is arguably the most popular singer in Russia and Ukraine. The Ukrainian legend has released over 40 albums and 400 songs in a variety of languages and is a People's Artist of USSR, a People’s Artist of Ukraine, as well as a Hero of Moldova and Hero of Ukraine. Here she is in the music video for “Odna Kalyna.”
