A Great Time to Visit Ukraine

29. October 2012 by Lorena 0 Comments

The coming months offer great opportunities to go meet up with ladies from Ukraine. Financial experts say that the value of the hryvnia, Ukraine’s national currency, will drop in relation to the dollar by about 10% by year’s end. That means more purchasing power for your buck when you go overseas. Right now, the exchange rate is roughly 8 hryvnia per dollar; it’s expected to drop to around 9 per buck by December, and even lower next year. By the end of 2013, it could go as low as 11 hryvnia per dollar.

Because of fees associated with exchanging currency, you will not get the exact exchange rate that is listed in the financial papers. But, there is a lot that you can do to keep costs down. Research the options available to you to get the best rate possible. Ask your bank what exchange rate they can offer before you go. It is possible that they can give you a favorable exchange rate. However, you will find that not all US banks will be able to exchange for hryvnias. At this time, Wells Fargo will exchange for Ukrainian currency, but Bank of America will not.

You will probably get the best exchange rate using ATMs once you are in the country. Be sure to let your bank and credit card issuers know that you are traveling overseas; otherwise, they might freeze your accounts to protect you from suspicious activity.

Any debit card that has the Plus, Cirrus, Visa, MasterCard/EuroCard or any other internationally recognized bank network logo is accepted at ATMs in Ukraine. Machines are conveniently located throughout cities in Ukraine, and can also be found in airports and hotels. Most businesses in Ukraine only accept cash, so, you will need to visit an ATM before going out. In high end restaurants and boutiques, you will probably be able to use a credit card. However, many casual cafes will not be able to accept them, so, it is best to have cash on hand.

Researching and preparing for your trip can insure that your Ukrainian adventure is the best possible. Still have not connected with someone who you would like to meet? Sign in and see who is online.
