If you like museums, you’ll love Ukraine. New collections of history and culture are being organized and unveiled all the time.
On May 1st, the Crimean city of Yevpatoria opened its 16th museum – the Black Sea Pirates Museum!
The extensive collection of over 600 artifacts includes weapons, utensils, coins, jewelry, pieces of sunken ships, sailors’ personal belongings, and more.
One room is decorated with gold and treasure while another depicts a sailor’s cabin. Visitors learn about the lifestyle of Black Sea pirates on land and at sea, as well as the customs and laws they live by.
A beautiful lady pirate commands another room which features a photo opportunity behind the wheel of the ship. Many of the items on display were found on shore after a storm seven years ago by Serhiy Savinov and he has been collecting ever since.
While the items do tell stories of Black Sea exploration, marine traffic and trade, and even the process of ship production, Serhiy says the museum focuses more on entertaining visitors rather than giving them an in depth history lesson.
Take a peek at these pics and consider visiting with your favorite Russian bride during your next vacation.
