Café Masoch: Submissive Meals, Dominant Dining

8. March 2012 by Masha 0 Comments

From the founders of the underground bunker bar Kryivka comes a more titillating themed café named after Ukrainian writer Leopold Ritter Von Sacher-Masoch. He enjoyed playing the role of the slave and insisted that his dominatrices wear furs. In fact, the word masochism was coined from his name.

Located in Lviv, Café Masoch has a statue of the writer himself standing outside its doors. Diners are encouraged to reach into his pocket to receive the restaurant's version of a fortune cookie. Once inside the restaurant, the atmosphere consists of dimmed lights, red velvet, furry handcuffs, leather whips, and more.

The menu, which can be purchased as a souvenir, is filled with cheeky-named dishes along with graphic images. There are salads such as Flexible Position and Virgin Flair, as well as soups such as Size Matters and French Kiss. The main courses are named things like Man's Instinct, Slavic Soul, and Memoirs of a Geisha, while the desserts are called Peaches for Him and Love Ritual.

Even the cocktail menu makes some diners blush with drinks named Geese on All Fours, Babel Whore, and Slave of Passion.

Visit the Café Masoch website for more information, but be prepared to "choose your masochism" from the options of a clothespin, whip, rope, or handcuffs!
