Congratulate Ukrainian Women on Independence Day!

High temperatures and dry weather conditions have been worrying Ukrainian officials about having their usual firework celebrations for Independence Day tomorrow. However, the Defense Ministry has decided to allow displays to be set off in 9 Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Sevastopol, Odessa, Kerch, Vinnytsia, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, and Dnipropetrovsk.

Many celebrations have already begun this past weekend, with parades and festivals all over the country. The 55th Kyiv Flower Exhibition is currently on display at Perchersk Landscape Park, with prominent Ukrainian symbols created out of beautiful flowers.

Today is Ukraine’s National Flag Day so plenty of concerts and flag raising ceremonies are taking place as well. President Viktor Yanukovych will visit the newly reconstructed Taras Shevchenko Museum on his way to the flag raising and celebratory concert at Independence Square in Kyiv.

Many other nations are congratulating Ukraine and conducting celebrations as well. Thousands of Ukrainian-American churches and organization all across the United States are hosting special ceremonies and cultural festivals. The Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, recorded a special video message congratulating the Ukrainian people and commending them on their remarkable determination, persistence, and spirit.

Festivals complete with Ukrainian food and folk music are being enjoyed in several provinces across Canada. The European Association of Ukrainians will dress the symbol of Brussels, the Manneken Pis sculpture, in traditional Ukrainian Cossack clothing. Many statues and sculptures around Ukraine are often decorated with traditional costumes also.

Do you know how your favorite Ukrainian brides will be celebrating this historical occasion? Send them some special congratulations and find out!
