One of the largest cities in Ukraine, Dnipropetrovsk, or Dnepropetrovsk, is home to just over a million inhabitants. Thousands of tourists visit the unique city each year. Here are a few of the most popular attractions. Which would you most like to see?


Karla Marksa Prospekt

A major thoroughfare in Dnipropetrovsk, Karla Marksa Prospekt, or Karl Marx Street, stretches through the center of the city and features street vendors, Soviet architecture, cathedrals, businesses, and more.

 


Preobrazhensky Cathedral

Located in Zhovtneva (October) Square, the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral is Dnipropetrovsk’s oldest Orthodox church. Catherine the Great founded the order in 1787.

 


Historical Museum

Also in October Square, the Historical Museum features ancient stone sculptures, Soviet artifacts, military relics, and a World War II diorama. 

 


Taras Shevchenko Park

Located on the bank of the Dnieper River, this park named after the great Ukrainian poet offers scenic trails, gorgeous river views, and plenty of places to relax.

 


Potemkin Palace

This palace, built in 1790, is located in Taras Shevchenko Park and is now part of a university.

 


Monastery Island

Monastery Island is named after an old Byzantine monastery and is home to the quaint St. Nikolay church. The island’s beaches, shops, and an amusement park are also popular attractions.
