FIFA President Sepp Blatter said that Russia has a very good chance to host the 2018 World Cup in his meeting with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin yesterday in Moscow.

The Russian bid which was announced last Friday has the full support of the government which would pour billions of dollars in to major milestone improvements in the European regions of the nation.

“I believe that the World Cup should leave a legacy, and this idea is coming to life here in Russia. That is why I feel a whole-hearted affinity for the Russian bid,” Sepp Blatter said in an interview with the RIA-Novosti news agency.

Even though the prime minister was disappointed with the Russian national team’s play in a 1-0 loss to Germany on Saturday, he is still a major proponent of hosting the World Cup. Putin said the Russia hosting such as major event would prove to the world how far Russia has come in such a short time. He cited the improvement of the national football team and the Russian premier league’s play.
