Flash Mob Collected Valentines for Vladimir

15. February 2012 by Masha 0 Comments

With the Russian presidential election a little over two weeks away, voters are ramping up signs of support for their favorite candidates. United Russia nominee Vladimir Putin is no stranger to having people profess their love to him in weird ways and yesterday, a Moscow flash mob jumped on the band wagon.

A large group of supporters gathered in front of the Russian White House on the Krasnopresnenskaya embankment to sing songs and encourage passersby to create Valentine's Day cards. The big heart-shaped boxes used to collect the cards were marked with the slogan, "You collect votes and we collect love."

"Right now all anyone can talk about is votes, elections, who's going to win... on this day we need positive emotions and kindness," explained organizer Yelena Zuyeva.

The flash mob only lasted around 15 minutes yet they managed to collect over 100 Valentines. They planned on delivering the boxes of cards to Putin's office but weren't sure if they would be accepted.
