Ukrainian Mail Order Bride Appears on Oprah

Lera Loeb, a so-called mail order bride from Ukraine, first made headlines in 2009 after she shared her experience with Glamour magazine. The article, Yes, This Woman is a “Mail Order Bride,” received mixed reviews from readers, and Loeb and her husband were back in the spotlight in January 2010 after the couple appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. The two say they are very happy together and encourage others to be more open about the international dating industry. 



Bianna Golodryga Becomes Host of Good Morning America

In June, Bianna Golodryga became the co-host of ABC’s popular show, Good Morning America. Golodryga is of Russian descent and speaks Russian fluently. She joined ABC News in July 2007 and announced her engagement to Good Morning America’s Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag last December.


The FBI Arrests Hot Russian Spy Anna Chapman

Anna Chapman made global headlines last June after she and nine other Russians were arrested by the FBI for attempting to spy on the United States. The sexy redhead became an instant celebrity and Chapman, 28, received a hero’s welcome in Russia, posed for Russian Maxim, and inspired a poker iPhone app, among other things. Playboy will publish nude photos of the sexy spy in their January issue.


Karina Smirnoff Gets Engaged

Last year, Karina Smirnoff made news after posing nude for PETA. This year the Dancing With the Stars babe snagged headlines when she got engaged to MLB pitcher Brad Perry. Smirnoff said of Perry’s November proposal: “He got down on one knee and he opened the box and I said, 'Thank you'. I honestly didn't expect it."


Putin’s Alleged Mistress Appears on the Cover of Russian Vogue

Alina Kabaeva, who many believe to be the mistress of Vladimir Putin and the mother of his son, posed on the cover of Russian Vogue this month, sparking controversy around the world. Both Putin and Kabaeva have dismissed rumors about their alleged relationship, but many think the Vogue appearance will force the two to go public.
