International Women's Day Cards and Posters from History

International Women's Day has been an important holiday for Russian and Ukrainian women since the day's official adaptation in the Soviet Union in 1913. Each year, cards and flowers were given to special ladies in much the same way we give candy on Valentine's or flowers on Mother's Day in the west.

 

The art associated with International Women's Day posters, post cards and greeting cards was often quite striking. Some of the images used through the years:
