The Japanese Corporation, Itochu recently met with Kiev’s local administration and has pledged to offer financial assistance for the construction of the Kiev Metro’s new Podilsko-Voskresenska Line. After numerous other recent additions, the brand-new fourth line of the Metro is currently under construction and is hoped to be complete by 2025.

The Japanese company is expected to provide subway cars for the new line and comes on the heels of an agreement made last March where Itochu and another Japanese company, Sumitomo both agreed to assist with the development of the Ukrainian infrastructure. They are also expected to work on a line connecting Kiev with the nearby town of Boryspil – home to Ukraine’s main International Airport.

The Itochu Corporation operates various divisions that work in Industries as widely varied as Food and Aerospace and is considered to be one of the largest General Trading companies in Japan.
