Kiev Women Strip to Raise Awareness for Animal Rights

24. August 2009 by Admin 0 Comments

Dozens of young Ukrainian women stripped down to their bikinis on Aug. 15 in downtown Kiev, while fellow activists splashed them with red paint, a symbol of blood. The animal rights activists were protesting the start of the Aug. 16 hunting season. According to estimates, some 3.4 million animals, including bears, wild pigs and birds, are killed each hunting season in Ukraine. Activists say that uncontrolled hunting has cut Ukraine’s wildlife by up to 70 percent in the past 15 years.
