According to Britain’s Daily Telegraph, Kiev’s Zoloti Vorota (Golden Gate) is one of Europe’s most impressive underground railway stations. Moscow’s Komsomolskaya, Mayakovskaya, and Slavyansky Bulvar stations also made the list.

Inspired by temple architecture of Kyivan Rus, Zoloti Vorota opened on December 30, 1989 and services the Syretsko-Pecherska Line. The impressive station features large chandeliers and colorful mosaics, as well as white marble walls and imposing columns. Zoloti Vorota is among the most famous stations in Kiev, and considered a prime example of Soviet architecture.

Here are a few photos of the beautiful Zoloti Vorota. If you’re ever in Kiev visiting a special lady, be sure to give the station a look.
