Maria Kirilenko has graced tennis courts with her skill and beauty since turning pro in 2002. Born in Moscow on January 25, 1987, Maria started playing tennis at around age 7 and has been in love with the sport ever since. Knowing talent when he saw it, Maria’s father enrolled her in a prestigious tennis school and Maria began to win her first tournaments after only one year of playing. The hard work and dedication soon paid off, and Maria quickly became the number one player in her age group in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). She eventually went on to become one of the youngest winners of the Canadian Open and the US Open Junior Tournaments.
Maria’s tennis prowess has taken her all over the world, including Japan, Thailand, England, and France. In her free time, Maria enjoys reading, watching movies, listening to classical music, and dancing. In 2009, Maria appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition alongside other professional tennis beauties.
If you’d like to see Maria in action, she will play in the HP Japan Women’s Open Tennis – Osaka on October 12-18, 2009, as well as the Kremlin Cup, October 19-25, 2009. Congratulations to Maria for becoming one of the best-known tennis players in the world!
