Meet Anastasiya Shpagina, Ukraine’s Living Anime Girl

1. October 2012 by Dasha 0 Comments

It seems Valeria Lukyanova isn’t the only living doll in Ukraine. Anastasiya Shpagina, 19, is making headlines for her eerie resemblance to a Japanese anime character.

According to an article in the Daily Mail, Shpagina spends 30 minutes applying make up to each of her eyes to get the wide-eyed look typical of anime characters. The Odessa native, who has adopted the Japanese name Fukkacumi, demonstrates her painstaking techniques on YouTube, and her tutorials have garnered an astonishing 2.5 million views.

Though Anastasiya hasn’t gone under the knife to achieve her startling looks, she has dropped down to 90 pounds in order to fit the part and accentuates her tiny waist with fitted dresses and chunky belts. Not surprisingly, Shpagina’s look is polarizing, with some people in awe of the teen’s transformation and others disgusted.

“Anastasiya18ful, you are a beautiful and talented girl. I love how you are able to bring an anime character to life,” writes one fan on YouTube. “This particular girl has amazing artistic talent that she is sharing with all of us. Please join me in celebrating her beauty, creativity & generosity!!!”

One critic wholeheartedly disagrees, writing: “This girl here is not healthy. She doesn't eat to maintain a fake silhouette, and she undergoes tons and tons of surgeries to create this fake image of a sick ‘perfection.’ Fail.”

What do you think of Ukraine’s living anime girl?
