Minsk, the capital of Belarus, will host 2009’s Miss Intercontinental Beauty Pageant. Since 1973, the pageant, which focuses on finding natural beauty, has been held at locations around the world and has included contestants from 41 different nations.

The pageant will be attended by representatives from many different countries including Katerina Boyko from Ukraine (pictured with crown), Russian lady Anna Mezentseva (who has also appeared in the Miss Earth 2008 pageant), Georgian former Miss Universe contestant Lika Orjonikidze and Mariya Yesman representing the host country of Belarus. In addition to the ladies from Eastern Europe, representatives from the whole world including former Miss Colombia contestant Verónica Velásquez Gómez and Miss Puerto Rico contestant Stephanie Pagan will compete.

Verónica Velásquez Gómez has big shoes to fill as the representative of Colombia, as the Country’s previous entry in the competition, Cristina Camargo de la Rans, won the title of Miss Intercontinental 2008.

The contest will take place September 27th in front of a crowd of 4,000 at the National School of Beauty. Belarusian pop stars Dmitry and Georgy Koldun and 2006’s “Supermodel of the World” Ekaterina Domankova are set to host.
