Russian Paper Takes Poll of Women's Pet Peeves

28. December 2009 by Daniel 0 Comments

Pravda, a Russian newspaper, recently conducted an opinion poll of women to determine their top pet peeves toward their husbands. Some of the answers were more surprising than others.

The Top Pet Peeve

Coming in at No. 1 on the list was “selfishness,” which the paper noted is the basis for many other pet peeves women have with men. They attribute men’s selfishness to an underlying feeling of loneliness due to their inability to bear children. Whether or not you agree with this analysis, it’s no stretch to believe that a truly selfish gentleman would be the cause of much grief for his Russian bride.

The Rest of the List

The second pet peeve on the list was indifference to the wife’s family, followed by leaving dirty dishes in the kitchen and watching soccer games at full volume, which placed at No. 3 and 4 respectively. Being unaware of where items are stored around the house clocked in at No. 5.

Rounding out the list were (6) believing that work is more important than family, (7) believing that women are bad drivers, (8) habitually embarrassing her in front of others, (9) doing household chores only when she leaves and never when she is home, and (10) talking about something instead of actually doing it.

Good Advice with a Grain of Salt

The paper did not indicate whether the poll was conducted solely among Russian women or if foreign women were included as well. However, in any case the results are something that gentlemen of all nationalities can take to heart. Take some of it with a grain of salt, but there does seem to be some things a gentleman can learn from the list. Read the entire top 10 list and Pravda’s explanation for each item here.

Keep these items in mind when you are chatting with your future Russian bride. Regardless of what you think of these results, she will undoubtedly appreciate your thoughtfulness and respect for her feelings.
