Russian Women Set New Skydiving Record

24. July 2012 by Dasha 0 Comments

On Monday, 88 women from the “Pearls of Russia” skydiving team linked up to set a new world record for women’s parachuting, Ria Novosti reports.

The 88-woman team formed a red, white, and blue flower over Kolomna, a town outside of Moscow. The record-breaking attempt took four tries, but the experienced skydivers, who practiced a week for the attempt, managed to pull it off. Check out the video below.

"With this result they beat last year's record of the German parachutists who had managed to form a figure of 84 people," Russia’s sports ministry said in a statement.

However, the Russian skydivers aren’t planning to take it easy. The women hope to shatter their own record next summer by completing a 100-woman jump.
