When the Dacia Duster was first introduced in Russia in 2012, it quickly became one of the best-selling cars in the country. In the first two months of this year, over 11,000 of the cars were sold. Now, the carmaker has hit a new milestone in the country: the 100,000th Duster has rolled off the line in the company's Moscow factory.
Production in Moscow is handled by the French/Russian automotive firm Avtoframos. The factory makes other Renault cars, as well, including the Logan, the Clio and the Sandero hatchback. The Dacia Duster is a well-reviewed car. Jonny Smith, one of the hosts of UK automotive show Fifth Gear, test drove it in Morocco, and praised its ability to handle rough mountain roads.
The Dacia Duster is manufactured locally in a number of countries worldwide, including Ukraine and Romania. It's used for ice-racing in France. Renault was one of the makes driven during the Women's Great Auto Rally earlier this year.
