Russia's Festival of Brides

28. April 2010 by Christy 0 Comments

Each year, Russian men and women from nearly two dozen cities organize a special event known as the Festival of Brides. Though many know the festival for its bridal beauty pageant, the mission of the event is to celebrate the loving relationships between husbands and wives, promote formal marriage, and encourage family values in young couples.

Described as a celebration of love, beauty, and youth, Russian brides from a variety of backgrounds participate in the festival’s annual pageant. Judges evaluate contestants on the elegance and originality of their attire, the charisma and energy they exude, and most importantly, how well they project the image of a beautiful, loving bride. The ladies compete for one of four titles: Diamond Bride, Golden Bride, Silver Bride, and Audience Choice Bride.

Recently, Saratov hosted the 4th Annual Saratov Festival of Brides. Here are a few photos from the event.
