Sochi World 2014, Russky Dom

Russians have high hopes for their athletes at the Vancouver Olympics this year, but many are already looking towards 2014 when the city of Sochi will be in the worldwide spotlight.

A unique, dome-shaped building on the Gulf coast of Vancouver has been designated as Sochi World, Russky Dom.

This Russian House opens its doors today and visitors are welcome to experience Russian culture while previewing plans for the next Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Committee requires that the next hosting city provide a place to present ideas and visions for the Games, as well as showcase the city and country. Sochi World will provide an exciting glimpse into Russia, the Krasnodar region, and the city of Sochi itself. Exhibition halls and informational booths, along with authentic Russian cuisine and performances will all help create a festive Russian atmosphere.

Sochi World wants guests to have the opportunity to get to know a new, modern Russia, where innovation is balanced with tradition. Throughout the Vancouver Olympics, events will be held in Russky Dom such autograph sessions with famous Russian athletes, live culinary shows, musical concerts, and comedic acts. The building also houses the Omnimax Theater which will present sports documentary films, along with Russian feature and animated films.
