This past weekend on Trukhaniv Island in Kyiv, the Rock N' Sich festival brought Swedes and Ukrainians together again. Inspired by the atmosphere of the Swedish football fans camp during EURO 2012, the festival featured live music from both countries, a knight tournament, a bicycle parade, and a car show.

Plus, a special monument was unveiled which represents the friendship that grew stronger between Swedish and Ukrainian football fans during last year's match up.

"It was a special period for Kyiv, in particular, the Kyiv fan-zone gathered a record number of visitors, and the camp on Trukhaniv Island was registered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest camp of Swedish fans in the world. An amazing atmosphere of a sports holiday prevailed in Kyiv, in which football lovers from Sweden were active participants,” said Oleksandr Popov, head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

A contest was held to select a monument with the winning sculpture consisting of the numbers one and two. It symbolizes the year of the EURO championship in Ukraine, the score of the match between Sweden and Ukraine, and it represents the number of the football fan - the twelfth player of the team.

"I am very pleased that Ukraine has a monument. Thousands of Swedish fans last year visited Ukraine. This monument is the symbol of the Swedish-Ukrainian friendship. This bridge in Europe is a bridge to the future," said Stefan Gullgren, the Swedish Ambassador to Ukraine.

In addition to the monument, large shoes supposed to resemble football cleats were also installed in the park with the words "Ibra" and "Sheva" on them, in honor of Swedish player Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ukrainian athlete Andriy Shevchenko.
