"Transformers" Opens Moscow Film Festival

Russia's capital city is filled with film lovers from all over the world today as the 33rd annual Moscow International Film Festival has begun. Over the next 10 days, over 400 films will be featured.


Today fans will enjoy the world premiere of Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon in 3D, followed by a performance by Linkin Park in Red Square. 


Director Michael Bay and his production team are in attendance, along with British actress Helen Mirren, Italian actor and film director Michele Placido and the former President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Havel, who is presenting his first film.


Tomorrow Russia's capital will host the International Film Finance Forum for the first time.


"The International Film Finance Forum is an important event in the film industry business. We look forward to discussing new trends and strategies for financing movies, and we hope that this event will be the impetus for the development of film industry in Russia," said Olga Mirimskaya, the Chairman of the Board of Corporate Finance Bank which sponsors the forum.


Films are categorized into 25 programs, such as Focus on Italy, Made in Spain, Documentary, Savage Nights, Short Film Corner, and others. The closing film of the festival will be The Debt, starring Helen Mirren and Sam Worthington.
