Another Knockout by Russian Heavyweight Denis Boytsov

19. October 2009 by Michelle 0 Comments

Russian boxer Denis Boytsov is being promoted as “the hottest heavyweight prospect” to keep your eye on in 2010. He’s currently undefeated with 26 wins, adding another knockout to his record with his victory over American heavyweight Jason Gavern last week in Germany. It was the first time the sturdy Gavern has ever been knocked down.

23-year-old Boytsov is 6’1”, weighing around 220lbs., which is not as big as most other heavyweights, but he packs a powerful punch and uses very quick movements, resulting in 21 wins by knockout. Fans enjoy his aggressive crowd-pleasing style and at such a young age, he still has time to grow both physically and professionally.

He turned pro in 2004 after a very successful amateur career of 115 wins and only 15 losses. He attracted a lot of attention early in his professional career when his first 11 fights resulted in 10 first round knockouts.

“In 2010 you’ll see a ‘boombastic’ Boytsov. I hope I’ll get a world title fight,” he remarks on the Universum Boxing website, adding, “My biggest goal is to become a world champ. Next year will be my year.”
