Putin’s Alleged Mistress to Appear on Cover of Russian Vogue

Alina Kabayeva, the alleged mistress of Vladimir Putin, will appear on the cover of Russian Vogue next month, a move that has sparked controversy around the world.

Putin has always denied a relationship with Kabayeva, a former Olympic gymnast, insisting he is still married to former flight attendant Lyudmila Shkrebneva. Putin and Shkrebneva have been married since 1983 (the year Putin’s alleged mistress was born) and the couple has two children.

Despite the repeated denials, many people believe the relationship rumors as Kabayeva, 27, and Putin, 58, have been photographed together at many official functions and a Moscow agency claimed they were approached to plan the couple’s wedding in 2008. Not only that, but Kabayeva gave birth to a son last year, a child that many people believe is Putin’s. The former gymnast never publicly named the father.

The cover (pictured above) shows Kavayeva in a $33,000 designer dress (one New York Magazine calls last season) with the caption “Her Main Victory” positioned between her legs. Though the owner of a Russian newspaper shut down his paper after printing rumors about Putin and Kabayeva, it’s highly unlikely Russian Vogue will do the same thing.
