Hot Russian Lady Makes Internet-Goers “Hot for Words”

30. October 2009 by Daniel 0 Comments

Meet Marina Orlova. Maybe you know this beautiful Russian woman already. If you don’t, you’re missing one of the hottest internet sensations around.

Marina, a professional philologist and etymologist (in English, that basically means a person who likes words), is the brains behind the popular Web site known as HotForWords.com and its corresponding YouTube channel. On the site, Marina posts short videos explaining the meaning and origins behind some of the most common English language words as well as some less common (but still interesting) ones. Her tagline for each of the videos – in which she often appears scantily clad and makes flirtatious glances at the viewing audience – is “Intelligence is Sexy.”

According to an internet biography, Marina received two degrees in philology from Nizhny Novgorod State University in 2002. She then taught English and world literature to high school students in Moscow before moving to the United States.

She launched her YouTube channel in 2007 and quickly became one of the internet’s most popular attractions. She was voted the “World’s Number 1 Sexiest Geek,” in Wired magazine’s “Sexy Geek of the Year” contest.

In addition to her internet endeavors, Marina hosts a biweekly radio show on Maxim Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
