Kharkov: EURO 2012 Host City

Freedom Square in Kharkiv, UkraineKharkiv, or Kharkov in Russian, is the second largest city in Ukraine and one of the four host cities for EURO 2012. Three matches will take place at Metalist Stadium, starting with the Netherlands vs. Denmark on June 9th. The stadium was first opened in 1926 and has undergone four major renovations in the course of its history.


While football is taken very seriously in Kharkiv, there are plenty of other attractions to enjoy during a vacation in the city. Freedom Square, or Maidan Svobody, is a well-known landmark that's perfect for a romantic stroll with your Russian bride.
