Putin and Medvedev Made Into Coloring Book Characters

7. October 2011 by Michelle 0 Comments

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin always receives peculiar birthday presents. From jeweled crowns to tiger cubs, you never know what another year of gifts will bring.

One of the more provocative presents was the sexy schoolgirl calendar last year. However, for Putin's 59th birthday today, the creators of the calendar came back with an entirely different idea.

"When children are asked who they want to be when they grow up, they often respond 'Dima and Vova,' said Maksim Perlin. "So we decided to create a coloring book for kids where the two leaders of the state would be their age."

The children's coloring book, titled Vova and Dima after the nicknames for Vladimir and Dmitry, does indeed feature the Russian President and Prime Minister working at the Kremlin, playing badminton, and riding tricycles. Vova is shown sharing advice with other kids, while Dima is "making people happier."

"Girls on our calendar caused too much negativity," said Pavel Petukhov, the artist of the book. "We have chosen a different target audience. But I think that both adults and children will like this book."

25,000 copies of the 14-page coloring book will be printed and offered at the price of 150 rubles ($4.62).
