Ukrainian CostumesWant to please your Ukrainian lady by learning more about her homeland? Take a trip to New York and visit the Ukrainian Museum The museum is the largest museum in the United States that is dedicated to preserving and educating Ukrainian culture.


The museum was founded in 1976 by the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America. In 2005, it moved to a state of the art facility designed by Ukrainian-American architect George Sawicki. The new building includes spacious galleries and areas for public programs. 


Ukrainian Fine ArtThe Ukrainian Museum’s collections include over 8000 pieces of folk art and 2000 Ukrainian fine art examples. There are over 30,000 items in the museum’s cultural archives, including the personal correspondence of prominent Ukrainians, posters, playbills, 18th century maps, stamps, and other objects that tell the tale of Ukrainians’ daily lives.


More of a hands-on learner? Throughout the year, the museum hosts public workshops on Ukrainian holiday baking, decorating Ukrainian Easter Eggs and making traditional Christmas ornaments. You can also go to the museum for lectures, concerts and films. This is also a great place to increase your understanding of the Ukrainian language – all of the museum’s guides are written in both English and Ukrainian.
