Do Russian Women Like to Drink?

6. February 2012 by Dasha 0 Comments

There are two common stereotypes when it comes to Russian women and drinking. Some people assume that all citizens of Russia love vodka and that Russian women are therefore avid drinkers. Other people believe Russian women have “traditional family values,” and therefore do not drink at all. Neither belief is completely accurate.

As one of the largest producers of vodka, it’s probably safe to say that many Russians enjoy a good drink. However, this certainly isn’t true of all of them. Some Russian women, like women anywhere else, do not like the taste of alcohol or the way it makes them feel. Therefore, they may shy away from adult beverages. If you’re a wine or beer connoisseur or someone who just enjoys a stiff drink, than a Russian teetotaler may not be the best match for you. The opposite is true of well. Many of the ladies of HRB enjoy a nice cocktail and may not mesh well with recovering alcoholics or men who refuse to drink at all. One can’t simply assume that because Russian women have “traditional family values” (a phrase that means different things to different people) they don’t enjoy the occasional (or even frequent) glass of wine or mug of beer.

Though it may seem like a small thing, drinking habits can greatly influence a couple’s overall compatibility. If one person is a big fan of alcohol while the other refuses to touch a drop, then problems can, and will, arise. If you feel strongly about alcohol, one way or the other, be open and honest from the beginning and try to find a woman whose beliefs and drinking habits match your own.
